How It
All Began…
It all started with a swipe…
Not long afterwards came our first date: brunch. It featured excellent coffee (my love language) and eggs (Nicholas’ least favourite…!). Brunch somehow turned into drinks, and before we knew it, several hours had flown by. Safe to say, we’re both very glad we ignored our reservations about dating apps!
That first date in March 2023 also uncovered something neither of us expected: despite growing up with just one degree of separation between us — Nicholas knew my cousins — it took both of us moving to London—a city of over nine million people—for our paths to finally cross. Funny how life works.
One date quickly became many, and before we knew it, a year had passed. We’d met each other’s families, discovered a shared love of travelling, and started building a life together.
Since then, we’ve been incredibly lucky to make so many wonderful memories: spending two unforgettable weeks in Greece where Nicholas met my cousins, seeing Cape Town through Nicholas’ eyes for the very first time, surviving a breathtaking (and slightly terrifying!) helicopter ride together, meeting each other’s wider families, and navigating all of life’s exciting “big” moments side by side.
Over the past two years, we’ve made it a tradition to return to South Africa—especially Cape Town—a place that has become woven into our story. It’s where we’ve celebrated, explored, laughed, and made some of our happiest memories together.
So it felt only fitting that, on 14th December 2025, the day after we arrived for our annual trip, Nicholas got down on one knee on a rock overlooking the breathtaking Cape Town coastline and asked me to marry him. (Thankfully, I said yes.)
Life has a funny way of bringing people together when you least expect it.
Now, just over a year later, we’re counting down to 20th February 2027, when we’ll say “I do” in a place that means so much to us. Cape Town will always hold a special place in our hearts—not only because it’s where we got engaged, but because it’s become part of our journey together and somewhere we hope to spend even more time in the years ahead.
As our story has already proved, life has a funny way of bringing people together when you least expect it. We can’t wait to celebrate the next chapter with all of you.
